Even in the egalitarian world of punk rock, not everyone can just
get uponstage to jam with his or her favorite band. The
ever-enterprising beachbunnies in Pennywise, however, have found a
way to let fans -- or at least oneparticularly talented one --
pitch in on their forthcoming sixth album. Don'tbother dusting off
those clarinets and ocarinas, though: The band is lookingfor a hand
in designing the artwork for the as-yet-untitled disc, and has
puttogether a contest in order to find a layman with the right
stuff to formulatethat design.
Sure, Jim Lindberg & Co. will be saving a few bucks by shunning
theskateboard-fashioning types who normally craft their covers, but
they willpony up a $1,000 first prize and fly the contest winner
out to Los Angeles toobserve the disc being put into production.
All the details can be found onEpitaph's website -- including that
little bit about selling the label yourfirstborn to help stock the
punk revival of 2018.
