Album Reviews
After ten years as a trance dj superstar, Paul van Dyk has released a retrospective that captures the best of his beautifully crafted, yearning appeal. Global sets van Dyk's most memorable originals against a continuous groove. "Tell Me Why (The Riddle)" features an impressionistic melody and the angelic vocals of Saint Etienne's Sarah Cracknell. Van Dyk winds things down a notch with soothing tracks such as the heavenly "Together We Will Conquer," before ending the thirteen-track set with two previously unreleased numbers, "Animacion" and "My World," which follow the van Dyk arc of tension and angst that leads to euphoria. It adds up to one of the few progressive trance CDs worth buying these days.
