Having long ago ditched rap metal, these well-tatted NoCal guys make punk metal that's agonized but lean and mean, with plenty of nuance. Their fifth album tosses in some murky atmospherics, but the best stuff is the simplest -- namely shredders like "Crash" and "No More Secrets," which trade ginsu-sharp riffs.

The Paramour Sessions may be the only full CD I've actually heard from Papa Roach, but I can surely say that this album contains some of the best songs I've ever heard. Papa Roach seems to have maintianed their Punkish rythm in their music but has revealed a deep & awesome side in their music. "Roses On My Grave" is by far one of the most meaningful of them all & would sound perfect in live. Their hit single "...To Be Loved" shows adeep & loud side of a person who will not simply surender & will continue to pursue their wish of wanting to be loved by another person. "Forever" is a beatifully sung & played love/Punk song that probably should have been their single due to it's popularity I've noticed in different music libraries; especially in iTunes top 100 rock songs as it has continuously moved within the top 10 tothe top 40. "Forever" is a beautiful song with a message of pain, in mind & emotion as one person pledges his love to their loved one; even comparing their love to addictions like heroin & saying that they must let them go. The entire album contains songs of emotion, anger, & love as it's primary messaging to the bands fans & to reach out to others as well. This album deserves true recognition & is a wonderful transition from Punk & rage to reaching out with emotions.

This album goes really deep. It's got lots of soul, but it doesn't go 'to far' and drive you nuts. I've been a fan for ages, and this cd is more into the punk metal/hard rock category than anything else. Jacoby's lyrics match the music, and it's all in sync. This is really an album to put on and keep playing all the way. Keep it coming guys!

The Roach puts out another solid album, long after their commercial heyday has ended. This disc relies more on powerful chord progressions and sheer power than the psuedo-metal riffing of their last couple of discs. This album really indulges more of the punk side of the band than they have shown in a while. There are several misfits style punk rockers on this disc. What remains, though, are the sharp melodic hooks in the vocal peformances, the love me or hate me style lyrics, and the urgent and powerful guitar performances that we have come to expect from this band. It's never over the top, but always just enough.

Love,
Jables
