Album Reviews

The twentysomethings in Old Crow Medicine Show marry old-time string music and punk swagger. Off-key mountain harmonies and vintage songs about cocaine and death pepper O.C.M.S. More daring is "Big Time in the Jungle," a confidently penned and sung Vietnam lament by multi-instrumentalist Critter Fuqua, who wasn't even born when Nixon left office. Another coup: the remake of Bob Dylan's "Wagon Wheel" into a singsongy bluegrass masterpiece.
