One problem with the White Stripes-inspired punk-blues boomlet: Some of the acts don't seem to actually appreciate the trance-inducing power of the blues. That's not the case with Boston guitar-and-drums duo Mr. Airplane Man, whose low-fi Moanin' contains two Howlin' Wolf covers, several droning, intoxicatingly repetitive originals ("Uptight" might be the best) and a chillingly harmonized "Jesus on the Mainline."
