The hard rockers' third major label release, Powertrip (A&M) has enticed Marilyn Manson, who appears infatuated with lead singer Dave Wyndorf.
"Dave Wyndorf is an acid fairy with wings made of marijuana leaves," Manson said. "He visits me and plays these songs that give me nightmares and sometimes arouse me."
Wyndorf wrote all the songs on the album within a three week stint in Las Vegas, and co-produced the album with Matt Hyde in Los Angeles. The album's first single, "Space Lord," is currently reigning supreme with considerable airplay on both active and modern rock radio, according to a spokesman for the band.
Wyndorf traveled back to Vegas to shoot the video for "Space Lord," which features a cameo appearance by Manson guitarist Twiggy Ramirez. "The video starts out really dark like a Metallica video then quickly moves into a Mase-like hip-hop set," the band's spokesman said.
Currently on tour with Megadeth and
Sevendust, Monster Magnet will headline a show at
Milwaukee's Summer Fest on June 27. The band will
link up with Van Halen on July 1 in Phoenix for a
six-show run taking them throughout California, Oregon and
Washington. There's also a chance Monster Magnet will tour with
Marilyn Manson once the follow-up to Antichrist Superstar
is completed, the spokesman said. (Ari Bendersky)
