Dave still knows how to thrash on those strings. The album tells us things that we don't always want to look at, that's wrong with the world. I'm a big fan of this band. Keep it going guys!

Dave Mustaine, Megadeth is great. And them making a new original album is better compared to what Metallica has done with their orchestra and garage days releases.
New original music is still better than rehashes or revivals and its good news that Megadeth continues to rock on.
Megadeth is better than Metallica because Dave Mustaine still has issues. Still has angst, still is angry and that is what gives him an edge. gives him that un-radio friendly, un-sell out factor that Metallica no longer has.
As long as Dave Mustaine has these issues. he will continue to prove to us that Metallica was wrong to let him go. It will be part of his motivation to stay on. And if he gets over those issues, the memories no longer kill him anymore, then the time comes that Dave Mustaine gets Jason Newsted and join forces in Megadeth. Together they will add fuel to the fire. Megadeth rules!

In a day and age when all the other heavy metal
bands are absolutely clueless about which
direction to take, here comes Megadeth with its
amazingly thrashy album United Abominations.
Its amazing to see how Dave Mustaine still has
the same level of energy as he did in his
Killing is my business.... days.
He sticks to his roots and produces an album
which is for the metalheads, by a metalGod!
This reviewer is rank stupid and does not know
one shit about reviewing heavy metal albums.
"United Abominations sounds a whole lot like
the band's last ten albums." Yeah, right.
Go listen to Cryptic Writings, Risk,
Youthanasia and repeat after me... "Mustaine is
God." And i'm not forcing my opinion down your
throat, thats the truth.
Like someone here said, have some respect for
an album that has reached #8 on the mainstream
charts.

Rolling Stone readers, you can be sure that RS can't review for shit in the states or where ever they have the mag...I am from Buenos Aires Argentina and the reviews here are as pathetic as this one.
They put this emo shit lovers to review real heavy bands when they should put someone with REAL knowledge about Metal and not these friggin wankers!
Now to the review;
excellent work...one of their best albums in the last years.
When bands like metallica bore us to death with crap, i can still be happy that one of my fav bands can still kick ass with fast ass kickin' solos and massive riffs.
Lyrics that make u think a bit and take your head out of your ass for a second. At least you don't have to hear all those crap ass emo shit lyrics...and for those who follow the band you know that musataine has always been political and he doesn't go around with his lyrics.
All in in all a real good album,if you like megadeth you'll love this album.

I'm going to take a giant politically-incorrect risk and take Mustaine to task for his born-again Christian beliefs on this album. In one song he criticizes the Bush admin for "attacking the church dynamic." Hey, Dave, what's the "church dynamic" and how is fundie, church-friendly Dubya attacking it? Mustaine can't forge a single vision for his lyrics: one song he's attacking Bush, the next he's preaching Christian escatology (look it up.) Bush believes he's a Christian soldier preparing the U.S. for the end times, btw. So does Mustaine, apparently. Musically the album is like Priest's or Maiden's mediocre albums: technically proficient, but still unsatisfying. I wish Mustaine would decide if he's going to criticize Bush or promote his religious agenda.

Talk about a poorly written review. Isn’t it mandatory to write/review something about the actual music on an album and for that matter, know something about the musicians they’re writing about? The reviewer makes a crucial mistake of not doing this. Shame on Rolling Stone for employing someone who knows absolutely nothing about quality music. This reviewer needs to have their shit put in a box and send to an outpost for the music illiterate.

I, too, have zero respect for Rolling Stone these days. People have different opinions but this album does NOT deserve three stars. And since you call it medicore and even go as far as to state it sounds like all Megadeth's albums out there, it really shows you know NOTHING about anything.
