Last week they bowed out of the Verve's upcoming North American tour and now Massive Attack will venture out across the continent on their own. |

The Bristol, England-based trip-hop forerunners announced on Thursday they'll kick off a tour of small- to mid-sized venues across America starting at the Cameo Theatre in Miami on Sept. 3.

Massive Attack -- "Mushroom" Vowles, "Daddy G" Marshall and 3D (a k a Robert Del Naja -- will bring a full band and vocalists along for the ride. Although the lineup is not confirmed at this time, it's likely that singers Deborah Miller and Horace Andy (a reggae singer who's appeared on all three Massive Attack albums -- Mezzanine, Protection and Blue Lines), will join the group on tour.

Massive Attack was slated to support the Verve on their 12-date outing, which will kick off on July 28 in Chicago. However, after much contemplation, they simply decided to headline their own tour, according to a source close to the band.

The group is currently enjoying tremendous success in England, and their May 12 release, Mezzanine, has sold more than one million albums worldwide. Collectively, their three albums have sold more than 340,000 albums in the States. (Ari Bendersky)
