Up-and-coming singer/songwriter Mary Lou Lord has put her skyrocketing musical career on hold to undergo alcohol abuse treatment. |

The 32-year-old Massachusetts native has canceled shows in Chicago, Cleveland and Toronto, but plans to reschedule all missed concerts this summer. Following her rehabilitation, Lord will also perform on this year's Lilith Fair tour as planned, a spokeswoman at the Sony Work Group told JAMTV on Wednesday.

Lord has battled alcoholism in the past and remained sober for more than one year before relapsing recently. The pressures of touring in support of an acclaimed album wore her down, and ultimately drove Lord to begin drinking again, the spokeswoman said.

"She's really brave and really smart because she's stopping this before it gets out of hand," she said. (Anni Layne)
