(NEW YORK) - Willie Nelson, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bela
Fleck, and Jane Siberry are among the
artists performing on Heritage, a collection of roots
music ranging from Appalachian gospel to African-American chants.
Orchestrated by violinist Darol Anger of jazz
innovators Turtle Island String Quartet, the album
pays homage to songs critical in the cultural development of
America. Heritage will be released Sept. 9 by six
degrees/Island Records.
