Album Reviews

During the past ten years, McBride has used one of country's finest voices to become one of its biggest risk-takers, speaking for the genre's dispossessed women. Her protagonists aren't mawkish or meek: "This One's for the Girls" preaches girl power for women of all ages. On "Wearing White," the album's best cut, McBride elegantly sings the praises of a one-time "wayward child" who's ready to settle down.
