(NEW YORK) - The blues world honored the late Luther Allison at the W.C. Handy Awards, held April 30 at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis. |

Allison received awards for blues entertainer, male artist, blues guitar instrumentalist, and contemporary blues album of the year (Reckless); his band also received a best-of-the-year award.

Another multiple winner was co-host Ruth Brown, who received awards for soul/blues album (R+B = Ruth Brown) and female soul/blues artist of the year.
