Musicians unite for Central Park Hurricane Katrina benefit

Dr. John, Lou Reed, Allen Toussaint, Gavin DeGraw, Dar Williams, Drive-By Truckers, Ivan Neville and Angelique Kidjo are among the artists participating in the Hurricane Katrina relief benefit, From the Heart of New York City to the Heart of New Orleans, at New York's Central Park on September 28th.

"My heart's always gonna be in New Orleans," Dr. John told Rolling Stone. "It ain't just the place, it's the whole culture. The music will survive; the people will survive."

Other artists slated to appear include Cassandra Wilson, Soulive, Corey Glover and DJ Logic. The concert, which wraps the twentieth anniversary season of the Park's Summerstage series, is free with a suggested donation of $25. All proceeds will be donated to the New Orleans Musicians' Clinic.
