Little Brother's producer, 9th Wonder -- like any dutiful DJ Premier or Jay Dee disciple -- has a natural touch for clean, understated soul samples. But like Slum Village before them, Little Brother are deeper in sound than concept. MCs Phonte and Big Pooh have intuitive flows, but too often they're devoted to feckless femmes ("Whatever You Say") and raps about rapping ("The Way You Do It").
