Laura Pausini's English-language debut is a highly polished affair, befitting the superstar Pausini is, even if no one in America knows it yet. Pausini has already conquered her native Italy (where she is a star the caliber of Celine Dion) and most of the Spanish-speaking world. So for her initial foray into the States, From the Inside, it sounds as if no expense has been spared. The results are sometimes a little too Mariah ("Do I Dare," "It's Not Goodbye"), but Pausini's vocals carry a childlike exuberance on the jangly "Surrender" and especially "Love Comes From the Inside," that will charm even the most jaded listener.
