Is there life after rap metal? The beneficiaries of a ridiculously large recent record contract, Korn have a lot riding on their first album since losing guitarist Brian "Head" Welch to born-again Christianity. Korn have never shied away from studio slickness, but here they employ not only Trent Reznor collaborator Atticus Ross but also the Matrix, the teen-pop production team behind Avril Lavigne and other shameless puffballs. Although longtime fans may freak, this match is a far better fit than when the Matrix overproduced Liz Phair: See You invigorates Korn's downtuned wallop without losing its menacing essence, and drum-heavy tracks like "Twisted Transistor" muster the radio hooks the last few Korn discs lacked. Unfortunately, singer Jonathan Davis can't find the focus and freshness to match the band's reanimated riffs. He cuts to his emptiness's core on the closing ballad, "Tearjerker," but elsewhere this professional moper moans and groans through the motions.

OK so this KoRns 8th studio album. WHich is also there first album after finishing up their 7 cd record deal with Epic reords. And now they are starting fresh with Virgin records and also their first album without "Head". To be honest when I heard it I was dissapointed. But as a true fan I still gave it its respect and tried to make the best out of it. And one thing KoRn was always good at was expressing feelings in a way that no else could like JD. And nobody else could match the sweetly tuned guitar of "Fieldy". or the spooky schoolyard riffs of Munky and Heads 7-string quitar duo. In the past as a whole 5-piece band they were untouchable but now it seems like for this cd they were doing it for the music industry and not for the fans who for some of them craved KoRn as a release and had to be disappointed with this cd. I always read these reviews and people smash Jonathon Davis for screaming and waling his way through the songs but you know what I wouldnt have it any otherway cuz nobody else can do it as perfectly as he does. Tearjerker was named the worst song and it for me is there best song because they were doing what they do best. The hurt and eary sounds with some hard riffs. SO best KoRn album. No way in hell but after listening to it for a while it starts to grow on you no matter how poppy it is cuz its still KoRn.

This is the worst Korn album to date. It is an overproduced horrible sounding experience. Do not buy this record!! The new one is much better!

The first time I listened to this album I didn't really like it. I think the problem was that they followed up the stellar first track Twisted Transistor with Politics which is about the lamest track on the record. But that's a common occurance on Korn albums come to think of it. On the second listen I realized just how stellar this album is. It just doesn't stop. It's hard hit after hard hit. It doesn't have the slow down tempo changes of the last two albums. All I can say is thank God for Korn. While other metal bands like Metallica have fizzled or flaked out, Korn keep fine tuning their sound and pumping out great hard core records.

KoRn’s album, “See You On The Other Side” is the ultimate rock experience. You can always count on KoRn to deliver a heavy, jam out album, but “See You On The Other Side” really has a different twist then the other albums, they took a more industrial sound with this album. This album still has the heavy guitar, bass slapping, and drum pounding sounds like with songs like “Liar” but it really is a new KoRn sound. They seem to always say in reviews that they have changed but this album really does put a new twist on KoRn, but I must say it was what KoRn has needed, being in this game for so long. As far has Jonathan Davis’s lyrics and voice, they are still just as bone chilling as ever. With songs like “Hypocrites” and “2-way”, he has out did him self with his messages, the whole album is a must hear. I must say KoRn is one of those bands that will be around forever and they really put their hearts into every album, which is very obvious with “See You On The Other Side”. If you haven’t listened to KoRn in awhile, check out this album, you won’t be disappointed. If you buy this album be sure to get the limited edition one, it’s worth the money with the awesome packing, pictures and original artwork. Can’t wait to see them on tour in 06 to support See You On The Other Side.

Absoulute garbage nu metal sucks, from the opening song to the last song it was all the same, just a couple of untalented bastards strangling guitars and wacking drums like cavemen, all they bloody well do is open strings what is so creative about that. the recording quality was probly 4 track or something.

this is a very mature album for korn; attention-deficit-disordered teenagers will hate it. it would be self-effacing for jonathan to continue to kick and scream like a tempermental child. no longer a growl, the tortured vocals on this album more resemble his excellent Queen of the Damned score. and the use of violins and chellos, along with munkey's acoustic guitar solos, give the album a haunted tone. 'Open Up' is probably the most beautifully melodic song korn has ever composed; listen closely to the chilling textures and layers of sound. also of note is the dark lyrical approach to 'Seen It All', along with its symphonic end. there are a few forgettable throw-aways, namely "10 or a 2-Way' and 'Getting Off', and the album would have been tighter without these fillers, but overall i would rank SYOTOS up there with Untouchables.
