Album Reviews
The nine space walks on Alpine Static, this Seattle quartet's fifth album, are, compared to the above, terse in the extreme. "Hot Stenographer" is bruising pith, like German pulse kings Neu! armed with a pair of Johnny Ramones. Even at length (the nine minutes each of "Passed Out on Your Lawn" and "Edge Set"), Kinski carry you away with concentrated momentum. The reissue of SpaceLaunch, Kinski's 1999 self-released debut as a trio, comes with an early demo the band sent out to rustle up gigs. How could any bar owner resist a title like "Loud With Drinks"?
