Throwing caution to the wind, Kenny Loggins opts for an arty, green-tinted cover photo reminiscent of the one that adorns the album of label mate Terence Trent D'Arby. Maybe Loggins should have gone all the way and called this wimp-rock epic Reintroducing the Softline According to Kenny Loggins. Whatever you choose to call it, Back to Avalon is so bland that it makes one nostalgic not only for Jim Messina but also for those carefree days when Loggins was writing themes for the first Caddyshack and Footloose.
