No More Touring For Kenickie in '97

Last month, JAMTV reported that Britain's hot young band Kenickie had to cancel its U.S. tour after 19-year-old lead singer Lauren Laverne fell ill. It seems that Laverne had a relapse| of a kidney condition that afflicted her as a child, and she flew home to London to rest up. While Laverne is on the road to recovery, she is by no means back to her old self. "Lauren's still resting, but she's getting better," said Rick Gershon, Kenickie's spokesman at Warner Bros.

Kenickie has decided to forego a U.S. tour for now, and is planning on going back into the studio to record a follow-up to their most recent album, At the Club, according to Gershon. "They just played the Reading Festival, but that's it for the rest of the year. There won't be any more live shows for them in 1997," Gershon said. (AB)
