(NEW YORK) - Keith Murray has been sentenced to three years in prison for second-degree assault. |

The ruling stems from an incident that occurred in May 1995 at a New Britain, Conn., nightclub where the rapper was to perform. He is appealing the ruling in Connecticut Supreme Court.

Murray's third album, It's A Beautiful Thing, is due Oct. 28 from Jive. The first single, due Aug. 28, is "Incredible" featuring LL Cool J.

In addition to his solo career, Murray is a member of the Def Squad trio with Redman and Erick Sermon.
