Journey has sold more than seventy-five million albums over the course of their three-decade career. Last year, the band released their nineteenth album, Generations, and were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Although Journey, after seven years of animosity, were reunited with former vocalist Steve Perry at the unveiling of their star last January, Perry will not be touring with the group. Journey's current lineup, in place since 1998, features Steve Augeri on vocals, founding guitarist Neal Schon, bassist Ross Valory, keyboardist Jonathan Cain and drummer Deen Castronovo.
Meanwhile, Def Leppard released a twenty-fifth anniversary greatest hits package last year, and spent the better part of 2005 touring alongside Bryan Adams and Cheap Trick. While the rockers are slated to release Yeah! -- a collection of covers of tunes by bands from E.L.O. to Thin Lizzy -- in time for their summer tour, the group is also preparing to record a new studio album, due in 2007.
"We've really tried to gather ideas on the road," guitarist Vivian Campbell told Rolling Stone earlier this year.
