Biography

One of the most politically charged "world music" artists to emerge from Africa in the '80s, Johnny Clegg fell so deeply in love with Zulu tribal culture that he not only fused it with Western-based music, he actually became an honorary Zulu tribesman. He was arrested and harassed for flouting South Africa's apartheid system to play music with blacks, yet managed to garner international acclaim.
