Williams alleges he lost wages due to breach of contract and is claiming civil battery over an incident that occurred when he and Lydon parted company. Williams filed suit in September in Beverly Hills Court and is asking for $5,000 in lost wages, sources said. Lydon, however, claims Williams quit his band four days prior to the commencement of the most recent tour.
In related news, Lydon has parted company with Virgin
Records. The split came after Lydon's solo debut,
Psycho's Path," failed to chart. According to Lydon's
manager, Eric Gardner, many of the singer's
supporters have left the label. Under the terms of the split,
Ken Berry, president of EMI Recorded
Music and chairman of the Virgin Music Group Worldwide,
has agreed to give Lydon the rights to Psycho's Path,
under what Gardner calls "favorable terms."
