Roots rocker Joan Osborne, crooner Isaac Hayes, blues chanteuse Etta James, hip-hop act the Roots and Blues Traveler frontman John Popper will be among those "sittin' up on Capitol Hill" and extolling the merits of democracy on "Schoolhouse Rocks The Vote."
To be released Aug. 18, the Rhino album promises such entertaining educational tracks as "I'm Just A Bill," "Sufferin' Till Suffrage" and "Get To Know Your Electoral College," as well as nuggets from "Schoolhouse Rock" veterans Bob Dorough ("The Campaign Trail"), Grady Tate ("Messin' With My Bill Of Rights), and Essra Mohawk & the Killer Groove Band ("Do You Wanna Party?").
All net proceeds from the set are earmarked for the Rock
The Vote Education Fund; all of the artists involved with
"Schoolhouse Rocks The Vote" have also waived all recording fees,
royalties and nights in the Lincoln Bedroom. The 10-track
CD/cassette will be priced at $16.98 and $10.98,
respectively.
