It's tempting to review a new collection by Jimmy Buffett simply by counting the number of chuckles elicited by the song titles. Beach House on the Moon has a few titular knee slappers -- "I Will Play for Gumbo" and "Math Suks" among them. But it also has a few vivid reminders of the other Jimmy Buffett, the one who's more than a popular stand-up entertainer and the patron saint of hedonists. For evidence of the enduring talent beyond the beloved persona, check out the warmly apocalyptic "Waiting for the Next Explosion" and the powerful reading of Bruce Cockburn's "Pacing the Cage." Thirty or so albums into his sprawling career, Buffett has proved with this latest public offering that his core business -- making music -- remains in good stead.
