I rarely buy CDs, but this is one I added to my collection. I can listen to it over and over. "Dig" is definitely my favorite song. I am not a musician, and some of the previous reviews relating to technical issues (new bass player) seemed picky & unimportant. I just sit down and really enjoy the music.

Incubus is still one of top bands in the world. People who say that the sound is bad ur crazy. This cd is more of a more matured sound and it happens all the time with bands. The vocals as always were great and the songs were very emotional and the lyrics weren't bad. This cd is very good and everyone should try it out.

I really hate to say it, considering Incubus is one of the greatest bands out there, but i HAVE to agree with what "jman" posted about this album. I really couldn't agree any more about the departure of Dirk Lance after Morning View. When Ben Kenney came in it really influence a change in the sound of the band as a whole and it wasn't exactly for the better. Don't get me wrong-I love everything they've come out with starting with Fungus Amongus, but when A Crow Left of The Murder was released, I was really disappointed in the sound. And it was when in fact because of the arrival of Ben Kenney. He is a good bass player no doubt, but he just ISN'T as technical as Dirk Lance. In addition to that, Ben keeps his bass lines too simplistic over half the time and it makes Jose drag on the drums. When a bass player wants to be simple all the time, the drummer is pretty much obligated to follow along, with very little room for showing off his abilities. (In a way, the drum patterns used in this album make me think of Rage. too simple). And it's sad in a sense because any Incubus fan could tell you that Jose Pasaillas is an amazing drummer. But on with the pros of this album. Honestly, i like it a lot. There's a sense of pop being filtered into their sound which can be good or bad, depending on the listener. With this album, I think Brandon really gets to show off with his vocal talents. Which may I add, get better and better with every album they produce. I love the lyrics. Standout tracks of the album would have to be the opener most definitely, "Anna Molly" and "Rogues" will rock your socks off, "Dig" and "Love Hurts" show the emotional side of the album, and to be honest, my favorite track on the album would have to be "Pendulous Threads". I love it because it really showcases what they offer creatively. I see it as the most creative song on the album instrumentally and definitely vocally. Overall, Incubus is keeping the name they've earned with this album and I know more will follow.

Being a bit younger than most original fans at 18 I only really got into incubus somewhere in between make yourself and morning view. I really love morning view and a crow left of the murder and I think light grenades fits nicely in the middle between those two opposing albums. I love rock and alternative mainly my three favourite bands being Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Incubus struck in the middle. What light Grenades does for me as an album is blend the factors i love in PJ and radiohead, riffs, meaningful lyrics, aggression, amazing singing and effective experimentation. I would also like to say that i think Brendan O Brien has had a great influence on incubus, making them a bit more raw and agressive while retaining their essence, in much the same way as he did with Pearl Jam after poor production on ten gave people the wrong impression.

I may be a little different then other Incubus fans in the fact I compare all their works to Make Yourself instead of S.C.I.E.N.C.E. I feel that was the culmination of the bands sound, Enjoy Incubus / Fungus Amongus was the conception, S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was the birth, Make Yourself was the perfection, Morning View was the maturity. It wasn’t until A Crow Lefts of the Murder that the bands sound fully broke off to this new incarnation. The departure of Dirk Lance and the addition of Ben Kenney has a lot more to do with that then people think. There was a missing element or intangible in these last two records since Dirk split. I may just be a bass freak and over thinking the issue. That being said, my life cycle comparison to their discography really hits home if you go back and listen to the albums in chronological order. You will see a perfect leap in the bands evolution staying true to their original sound all the while expanding upon new ideas. That is until A Crow Left of the Murder, were it takes a slight jolt off to the right, not a big jolt just a slight. The band is continuing on this Jolt with Light Grenades and it is the perfect step in evolution from A Crow Left of the Murder. Maybe we have witness the start of a new Incubus life cycle.

'Light Grenades' was without a doubt the best purchase I made in 2006! Incubus has been my favorite band for over five years and I've enjoyed seeing them evolve. Listening to their albums has helped surpass some difficult moments in my life and their lyrics have been inspirational to me. I believe Incubus has stayed true to their art and weren't afraid to be vunerable with this album. They've included their usual 'sensitive' songs like 'Dig' and 'Love Hurts' and their more heavier songs like 'Rogues', 'A Kiss to Send Us Off', and 'Pendulous Threads'. I'm not at all dissapointed that they've changed their sound because i don't expect them to be stuck in an intertia of nu-metal funk that they've clearly outgrown since their 'Fungus Amongus' days. Incubus is growing and learning from their previous experinces, and at the same time still adapting to their new bassist's style. I commend my fellow SoCal boys(I consider Kilmore and Ben SoCal boys) on all their hard work and I couldn't be happier with 'Light Grenades'.

For the record, I'm a die-hard Incubus fan, from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. all the way to this new release. I think Light Grenades is a great album and I love the direction they are going in. It's nice to know in a world dominated by carbon copy bands like Nickelback and Hinder that I can always fall back on the unique and creative methods of Incubus. In response to some of the other reviews: Dig, although poppy, is a fantastic song musically and lyrically, easily one of the best on the record. And dont go ripping on Audioslave, Chris Cornell and co. are musical geniusses and do not get the credit they deserve. Overall Incubus can keep up at this pace I'm right behind them.

I think its great!
the band, musically, is definately taking a new path but the sounds are worthy of praise. the lryics maybe are a little less adventerous that they have been, but i think the music is great. it's much more experimental, which is good to see because the band has found a new sort of sound here which is certainly just as good if not better as previuos albums.
good on you guys, great album.
