Huey Lewis Sparks "American Psycho" Soundtrack Recall

Lewis drops out of "Psycho" soundtrack

While American Psycho protagonist Patrick Bateman may have been a big Huey Lewis fan, it seems Lewis isn't as enamored with the film's central character. Koch Records has recalled its initial pressing of the American Psycho soundtrack in order to remove Huey Lewis and the News' "Hip to Be Square" following an objection by Lewis, who apparently was troubled by the portrayal of violence in the film.

"As a result of the violent nature of the film, Huey Lewis' management decided not to give soundtrack clearance," said Koch Records President Bob Frank. "Fortunately, we caught it in time to minimize recall."

The recall came after the album's April 4 on-sale date, but Frank claims that a revised version of the soundtrack will be in stores in time for the film's April 14 opening. The soundtrack features tracks by the Cure, David Bowie, Eric. B and Rakim, and New Order.

According to his management, Lewis could not be reached for comment.
