Love and her punk rock cohorts in Hole recently recorded the follow-up to 1994's Live Through This in New York and Los Angeles. The untitled album is currently undergoing postproduction in England, where guitarist Eric Erlandson is working with engineer Mark "Spike" Stent, who has previously worked with the Spice Girls. Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan was originally slated to produce the album -- tentatively due out June 2 -- however Corgan's commitment to the album is undetermined at this time.
"Billy Corgan is involved, but we don't know how much," said Jim Merlis, Hole's publicist at Geffen.
Despite reports that the band has announced a song list, Merlis said no titles are official yet.
While work continues on the secretive album, Love has turned her attention back to the glitz and glamour she tasted with The People vs. Larry Flynt. The unwilling star of the controversial independent film, Kurt and Courtney, Love has started work on her next big-time production, titled 200 Cigarettes.
A cross between Singles and Reality Bites, this latest Love venture began filming in New York City last week. Love will star alongside Ben and Casey Affleck of Good Will Hunting, Jay Mohr of Jerry Maguire and Christina Ricci of the upcoming Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas among others. The film, directed by former Oliver Stone associate Risa Bramon Garcia, is about artists and eccentrics surviving New Year's Eve 1981 in New York's East Village.
There is no word yet on the movie's release date or a possible Hole tour this summer.
