Album Reviews
Heavy trash is the latest project from New York punk reprobate Jon Spencer. He and guitarist Matt Verta-Ray dive deep into blues and roots noise, getting musical backup from unsavory friends like the Sadies. Like his fellow goth-punk godfather Nick Cave, Spencer is a master of the offhandedly irreverent blues move, turning riffs like “Crazy Pritty Baby” into prime perversion.
