Hanson Unplug for AIDS Gig

L.A. concert to raise money for Lifebeat

Posted Jun 19, 2003 12:00 AM

Hanson will unplug for a set at Los Angeles's Henry Fonda Theater tonight to benefit Lifebeat, a music-industry AIDS charity. Also on the bill for the concert, sponsored by independent radio station KCRW, are Phantom Planet, Calexico, Bleu, the Like, Wilshite and Special Goodness, featuring Weezer drummer Pat Wilson.

General admission tickets for the event, set for 7 p.m., are $40; $75 dollar V.I.P. passes offer a balcony seat and entry into the rooftop after-party.

Lifebeat, founded in 1992, uses music and music industry resources to advocate HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. This summer, the New York-based charity will be doing outreach on Ozzfest, the Vans Warped tour, Lollapalooza and Jay-Z and 50 Cent's Rock the Mic tour. Also, tours by B2K and the Counting Crows and John Mayer will add a $0.25 surcharge to tickets that will then be donated to the program.

Lifebeat is also planning a New York benefit for August, and a new Latin music benefit concert, Latinbeat, for Miami on September 4th.
