Steve James and Peter Gilbert, the filmmakers responsible for Hoop Dreams are gearing up for a different set of jams. The documentary-making duo has signed a deal with Mercury Entertainment to chronicle the story of rap pioneers Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel on the silver screen. Flash is often credited with the advent of scratching and beat-boxing , and Mel was the lead rapper in his group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. (IJ)
