Grand Funk Rolling Across America

Posted Oct 15, 1997 12:00 AM

They may be an American band, but Grand Funk Railroad's new album is called Bosnia.| The Flint, Mich., rock trio, which first formed in 1968, played three dates in Bosnia on their 1996 reunion tour. During their stay in the war-ravaged Baltic state, Grand Funk re-recorded many of their hits with the Sarajevo Symphony Orchestra.

Now the band's fans will get to hear those unique recordings -- which include classics such as "I'm Your Captain," "Closer To Home," and "Bad Time" -- on the upcoming double album Bosnia, to be released on Oct. 21. The album will be supported by a fall tour beginning at Chicago's Riviera Theatre on Oct. 22. (Seth Hindin)
