General Public was the underappreciated English Beat spinoff led by Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger that made a rather modest splash in the mid-'80s. A surprise soundtrack version of "I'll Take You There" last year led to a reformation, and the result is "Rub It Better," a solid comeback effort that in these days of chart-topping dance-hall music has a decent shot of connecting with a large audience.
