Album Reviews
If you liked Franz Ferdinand's last album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, but thought it was missing something — perhaps a futuristic, stoner-friendly electro vibe? — you're in luck. This dub version, mixed by Lee "Scratch" Perry producer Dan Carey, adds blips, glitches and loads of reverb while preserving Tonight's tidy rock-disco hooks. "Feel the Pressure" loops a sexy Alex Kapranos proclamation ("You're what she came for") over booming Chemical Brothers-style beats, while "Katherine Hit Me" makes Tonight's "No You Girls" sound like a dance club on the moon, adorning the funky bass line with spare, echoing vocals. Warning: Murky cuts like the slo-mo jam "Feel the Envy" may require weed.
