Three years ago, canadian leslie Feist broke through with her debut, an eclectic record that dipped into indie disco and Euro pop but had enough sweet, chanteuse-y moments to earn Norah Jones comparisons. On The Reminder, Feist digs a little deeper: Less eclectic but more impressive, the album finds her working up abundant beauty and warm, ruminative singing on jazz- and folk-tinged songs. Cuts like "1 2 3 4" and the rather gorgeous "I Feel It All" are both memorable and resonant, and on the standout "My Moon My Man," she sounds sharp, sassy and smitten alongside a seductive, jazzy shuffle. Feist seems like a big fan of her own voice, and it's hard to blame her: She's got a sweet, throaty croon capable of great tenderness and supple adornments. But several tracks sound like they're more about singing than songs, and tedium creeps in on slow ones such as "The Water" and "Honey Honey," a minimalist, arty thing that sounds like bad Joanna Newsom. Too bad: Replace the sleepy stuff with more songs like "My Moon," and The Reminder would have been killer.

Three stars is a bit thin. Listen to this album three times and tell me there aren't at least four of five tracks that stick with you. She has a voice that could break Dick Cheney's heart - not my quote. And hell - she was born in Amherst!

Leslie Feist is an indie sensation, with the music that just makes you admire and apriciate what a real musician is. Her sound is very unique but I love it. Feist showed on her 2004 disc "Let It Die" how diverse Feist and her sound can be. On her lastest album, "The Reminder" she plays it safe and wasn't as versitle as she was on her 2004 album. The album still shows some promise with some baroque pop/folk and some indie rock that is simply beautiful to listen to. Feist is one of my favourite artists and does not dissapoint.

It's beautiful and intellectual soft-rock. Leslie Feist is back and this time she loses the experimentation she used in the amazing "Let it Die" and produces a fulfilling effort with "The Reminder. The album as a whole is much different (as previously stated) but it doesn't change the fact that this girl will blow your mind!

I'm rating Rolling Stone's copyeditors one star. The CD cover
says "Feist." The review says "Feist." Why does the header say
"Fiest?"
