London producer David Kosten, a.k.a. Faultline, has pals such as Chris Martin and Michael Stipe warble over his ambient abstractions with mixed results -- does the world need another treacly cover of "Wild Horses"? But Kosten's collaboration with the Flaming Lips, "The Colossal Gray Sunshine," is a masterpiece of widescreen psychedelic soft rock, and Martin's musings on the title track lend Faultline's mechanics a haunted, human touch.
