Everclear Start Daydreaming

Band's sixth album due in March

Everclear will release Slowmotion Daydream on March 11th. The album, their sixth, will be the follow-up to 2000's dual release Songs From an American Movie, Vol. One: Learning How to Smile and Songs From an American Movie, Vol. Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude.

While the two albums allowed for an expansive approach, frontman Art Alexakis says that on Slowmotion Daydream the goal is paring down the band's range of material. "The tinge for this record is towards aggressive rock," he says, "which is kind of a throwback for us. It touches on a lot of different bases that we've done as Everclear, but kind of make sense of all the connections and goes in a different direction."

The band's first single is "Volvo Driving Soccer Mom," a track Alexakis describes as, "a rock & roll song, kind of funny. It takes a whole shot at the right wing a little bit, on the thesis that strippers and porn stars grow up to become republicans. That's my story and I'm sticking with it."

The band has begun filming the video for the single with director Francis Lawrence. "We are really excited about this video," Alexakis says. "I picked the guy that I respect the most. The video is going to be humorous but dark at the same time."

The band expects to begin touring behind the record this coming April.
