New England Patriots Crush ... Everclear Fans?

Posted Nov 19, 1997 12:00 AM

Last Thursday, New England Patriots' quarterback Drew Bledsoe and two other members of the team were reportedly invited to join Everclear on stage at their show at Boston's Paradise Rock Club. Minutes later the players decided to stage dive into the crowd, injuring one female fan, the Associated Press reported.|

After briefly appearing onstage, Bledsoe, backup quarterback Scott Zolak, and 305-pound offensive lineman Max Lane leapt into the crowd. One unidentified woman reportedly struck by Lane was hospitalized with serious neck, shoulder, and arm injuries. Lane had no comment at the time, according to AP.

The Patriots issued a statement saying they were investigating the incident. Leigh Steinberg, Bledsoe's agent, told AP that "Drew went to a concert and, following the custom of his generation, he jumped into the crowd. I'd prefer he not jump off stages. I don't think it's something you'll see again soon."

Everclear's publicist could not be reached for comment. (Ari Bendersky)
