Posted Aug 21, 2002 12:00 AM

Enrique Iglesias, Alan Jackson, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Josh Groban, Gloria Estefan and others will take to the stage of the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., on September 9th to perform the Concert for America, an event that will be televised on NBC two days later, on the one year anniversary of the September 11th tragedy.

The event -- which will also feature music by the National Symphony Orchestra, Placido Domingo and Renee Fleming - will be attended by honorary chairman, First Lady Laura Bush, and the television special will be hosted by Tom Brokaw as part of the network's two-day "America Remembers" special.

"As we mark the first anniversary of last September's attacks, I hope the Concert for America will allow us to use the arts to soothe our emotions as we remember those whose innocent lives were tragically cut short," said Mrs. Bush. "I also look forward to an evening to celebrate the unity that makes us all proud to be Americans." Mrs. Bush is the honorary chairperson of Concert for America as part of her work with the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities.

There is no ticket information for the event, though organizers are urging people to participate by watching the NBC special, which will begin at 9 p.m. (ET).
