Eminem Presents The Re-Up  Hear it Now

RS: 2of 5 Stars Average User Rating: 4of 5 Stars

2006

It's a crew album - of course it sucks. The depressing thing is how much. Obie Trice; the merry men of D12; Shady Records never-was Stat Quo and newbies Cashis and Bobby Creekwater; 50 Cent proving payback is a bitch - didn't one of them have a lyric to show off? On a record where all they do is brag about being big-timers who are down with Shady, even a few insights into cocaine packaging would tone things up considerably. The boss's beats tend toward ominoso rock-keyb marches a la "Mosh" and "White America," with gunshots scattered here and there like pepper spray. But not only is this mode less fresh now, Eminem doesn't develop it, and the rhymes don't nearly justify its declamatory pomp. So the Em-50 duet "Jimmy Crack Corn," an egocentric return to the rhythms of the visionary anti-Bush "Square Dance," comes as a relief, as do the Akon and 50 remixes. Eminem's own rhymes meet his traditional polysyllabic standards, with a nice pass into the third person on the title song ("As sick as his music is, or was, still is, whatever"), but only the final two minutes of the final track access the brilliance we once took for granted: "They don't see that I'm wounded/All they did was ballooned it/I'm sick of talking about these tattoos/Cartooned it/That's why I tuned it out."

Eminem is back right....wrong his crew is and they are an ambomination to the rap game. The only thing that I felt bad for is Eminem, he is so talented and his crew is making him look like Ja Rule. His crew I forgot to mention, contains newcomers Cashis and Bobby Creekwater and Obie Trice(D12,and a pleasent suprise album Cheers). Bobby and Cashis have no talent, and have no ability to tell a story which annoys me incredibly. Cashis has the exact same problem as Creekwater, in the song You Don't Know (also with 50 Cent, Eminem, LLoyd Banks) saying "piss to play rickashaw, see where the victim lay" which makes no sense and has nothing to do with the song itself. Creekwater during the Smack That(Remix),he goes on and says pointless things in the song that add no prescense or depth by saying "being this hot is not legal, and the bright green and the ice reflect the light to her, and the ice bright blue".There are parts in that song that show some life(Akons Verse from the original hit Smack That), his verse flows at a gradual pace with the song. But at the end of the song, it falls flat. The best song in this Album is No Apologies, it is with just good old Eminem talking about his critics, and having no remorse about what he said (In his Albums) and did in the past. But I disagree with Yallknowme, Eminem is not garbage. Yallknowme listen to the Slim Shady lp, The Marshall Mathers lp, and The Eminem Show, and tell me after listening to those 3 albums that he is garbage. But besides the song No Apologies (which I reccomend everybody buy as a single song on Itunes if available), the album is a disaster.

What is with all you eminem fan-boys, Em is garbage, and so is his crew. The only people that like this filth are DEAF. Honestly guily conscience was straight but thats it. All he has done is make sorry beats for sorry rappers (Bizarre anyone) I mean honestly how many times will he go to the well before he figures out its dry...... I have rarely (if ever) seen anyone with such a low level of talent, convince so many people he's a genius. I guess no one under the age of 17 knows what music is supposed to sound like. If you wanna hear real Hip Hop turn off the SHADY, and put in some BIG, PAC, KRS-ONE. I mean Biz Markie is better, 2 Live Crew is better............ I wish I had four hands, so I could give this album 4 thumbs down.

This mixtape converted to album is far less than what i expected it to be. When looking at recent articles on the web about this upcomming album, i read that eminem said that the tracks were soooo good, and thats whyit was going to be turned into an album. Now, i am a huge eminem fan, and when i saw that this album was coming out, i felt scared. i was scared because i didnt want it to flop. his last album, encore was great according to average standards. but, eminem isnt about being average, hes beyond that, so i was dissapointed with that album. i was hoping that this album would be different, but it wasnt. it has some high points but mostly low. the only positive thing about this album is the songs he has.it shows me that his next album will be great and that i still have something to look forward to.however, i feel that he shouldnt sign anymor artists to his label that are just average. obie stat 50 and d 12 are pretty good but im not liking cashis or bobby creek. and no matter how much i try to like them its just not going to happen. i give the album 3 stars , mainly because hi individual tracks are so good that it doesnt deserve anything less.

As any SHADY fan would say "F**K OFF" with review or no review the *$#*'s{exclamation's} still makes its mark! With ipods, Mp3,cd-rw/dvd/downloads/FREE/ect....Be plain ol' happy when & if YOU was old fashioned enough to be fufilled by owning that 1 RAP album. I AM a SHADY
FAN. I give Eminem 2 THUMBS DOWN and wave my middle fingers in salute to him on a job well done. SINCE A KID I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE THE WHITE PAC OF HIP HOP. I see reviews of 2 stars from most. but the REAL DEAL {the fans}choose most to give 4 stars. I need say no more but add 4 more stars to the list & F**K OFF !!!!!

To MadwestMintz:
First off, if you knew anything about music, let alone hip hop, you would know that this CD is a MIXTAPE. It is not a traditional album. A mixtape is a promotional tool in the music industry used to, you guessed it, PROMOTE. Artists use them in an attempt to get their name out there. In this case, Eminem used it to display and promote his stable of artists on Shady records. The Re-up wasn't even originally intended to be released to the mainstream. However, the production was "so good," they decided to. With that being said, perhaps you should have actually tried reading the track listing before you bought it. You would have found that it's NOT an Eminem album.

As for the album itself, it's decent. I listen to a lot of mixtapes and I can tell you that this is one of the best ones I've heard. It's all new material (with the exception of a few remixes), which is rare on mixtapes. The solo Eminem tracks are reason enough to check it out. He rips it in every track he's on! 50 steps his game up and Stat Quo makes a good showing. Obie spits game as usual. The new comers Ca$his and Bobby Creekwater are...blah. Most will probably think it's decent at best. But take this into consideration: artists save their best material for their albums.

Also, I have to say I'm very dissapointed with Rolling Stones review of this. It was not one of the better reviews I have read from you guys.
