Album Reviews
Short snippets of Jon Brion's melancholic instrumental film score fill most of this appropriately introspective and intermittently unhinged soundtrack. The Polyphonic Spree and peak-era ELO ("Mr. Blue Sky") contribute effusively sunny pop, and Beck serves up a pensive rendition of the Korgis' 1980 hit "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime," which sounds like a soul-damaged smash that never sprung from Sea Change.
