The Eels kick off a tour in support of their new album Shootenanny! June 17th in Los Angeles. The outing is now confirmed to run through an August 9th stop in Austin, Texas.

Shootenanny!, out today, is the follow-up to last year's Souljacker, and features songwriter/violinist Lisa Germano on several tracks. "It's an Eels record for the whole family," Eels mastermind Mark Oliver Everett, a.k.a. E, told Rolling Stone. "It's the voice of someone who's coming into their own as a person, someone who's accepting things about themselves and the world. It's almost like a Sermon on the Mount."

Earlier this spring, E also released his original score to the film Levity, starring Billy Bob Thornton, Morgan Freeman and Kirsten Dunst. The disc features two Eels tracks, "Taking a Bath in Rust" and "Skywriting," along with a dozen other Everett originals.
