This collection of odds-and-ends showcases the Los Angeles country veteran's versatility, and his personality. He imagines "The Loco Motion" -- yes, that one -- as a lost Elvis number, mostly for the better. Yoakam's voice is so assured that he's tough to duet with; Deana Carter doesn't quite succeed on "Waiting," but bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley matches him holler for holler on the Yoakam original "Miner's Prayer."
