Milo left the Descendents to study biochemistry, Darryl from the Bollweevils became a doctor, and now Mike McCollgan, vocalist for the Hibernian streetpunk group Dropkick Murphys has quit music to become a Boston firefighter.|

A spokesman at the band's label, Hell Cat Records, told JAMTV the Dropkick Murphys had to cancel their spring tour earlier this week (which was to run from April 4 in New Orleans through May 2 in New London, Conn.) because bassist Ken Casey contracted pneumonia; McCollgan took advantage of the hiatus to spring his new career plans on his bandmates.

The much talked-about Beantown quartet is currently auditioning new singers and should be back on the road in time to appear on this summer's Warped tour. At press time, Dropkick Murphys are scheduled to hit the North Stage on five Warped dates. (Seth Hindin)

Dropkick Murphys' confirmed Warped dates:

  • July 22 - TBA, Pittsburgh
  • July 23 - St. Andrews Street, Detroit
  • July 24 - TBA, Toronto
  • July 25 - Hippodrome, Montreal
  • July 26 - Place le Bourge Neuf, Quebec City
