DMX's Driving Woes Continue

Rapper nabbed again on Christmas

Posted Dec 26, 2002 12:00 AM

DMX was charged with several traffic violations on Christmas Day while driving in Westchester County, New York. The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was driving a black Chevrolet Suburban on the Hutchinson River Parkway at 2:30 p.m. when he was stopped by the police. When he was asked for his license and registration, Simmons failed to produce the proper documents. He was charged with unsafe lane changes, failure to signal and possession of a forged document and was released.

In March of 2000, DMX was pulled over following a Ruff Ryders performance in Buffalo and arrested for multiple traffic violations and marijuana possession. DMX's failure to appear in a Cheektowaga, New York, court to face those charges led to a contempt of court charge. DMX finally turned himself in and served a thirteen-day sentence, but an altercation with a prison guard brought about an assault charge, which the rapper pleaded guilty to the following year and paid a $1,000 fine.
