On this DJ mix, Dimitri From Paris establishes a bubbly, quick-moving world of eternal relaxation. This beautifully tweaked disco extravaganza begins with Bah Samba's "Reach Inside" and Mecca Headz's "Star," insinuating, unforced rhythm pieces. In a show of real bravura, Dimitri spins his "secret edit" of the Originals' awesome "Down to Love Town"; guitars fly by faster than the drums, old-Motown strings interject, and the Originals' lead singer, Freddy Gorman, testifies how he's headed "down to love town" because, as a chorus explains, he's "been misused." From there, the mix crests with Stetsasonic's fluid "Talkin' All That Jazz," Cerrone's classic "Give Me Love" and the Sunburst Band's soulful "I'll Be There for You" before climaxing with "Found a Cure," Ashford and Simpson's peerless love-gospel summit. Throughout, Dimitri remains a man more interested in nocturnal sensuality than in chemical rocking or sonic architecture -- you can picture him mixing in Hugh Hefner's robe and pajamas. (RS 839)
