Album Reviews
Lovato is a 16-year-old Disney star who digs death metal, a taste that doesn't entirely fit with the Ashlee- and Avril-style tunes on her second album. Lovato has chops and spunk akin to a fellow Texas pop singer, though her voice doesn't churn with Kelly Clarkson's gutsy heart yet. The fiery synth-powered "Got Dynamite" shows she can bite, and the Duffy-like orchestral soul on "Every Time You Lie" is a slick break from her crunchy pop rock.
