Deborah Cox Gets Her Wish

Singer works with R&B heavyweights on new album

Multi-platinum R&B singer Deborah Cox has completed work on her third album, The Morning After, which is due September 24th.

"I think the difference between this album and the last album [1998's One Wish, which spawned the blockbuster single "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here"] is that instead of songwriters and producers presenting songs for a Deborah Cox album, it was more of a collaboration with friends," she says. Those friends are a who's who list of songwriters, including Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (Shaggy, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey), Warryn Campbell (Mary Mary, Sisqo), Shep Crawford (Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight, Boyz II Men), Michael Angelo (Faith Evans, Busta Rhymes) and Rodney Jerkins (Backstreet Boys, Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears).

"It was a bunch of jam sessions, and we picked the best and put them on this record," Cox says. "So I'm really excited about it."

The Morning After will be Cox's first album for J Records.
