Days Of The New Shoot Up Charts

Posted Nov 04, 1997 12:00 AM

(NEW YORK) - Outpost/Geffen's rock outfit Days Of The New, which was discovered by its management team after only three shows, is zooming up the album chart with its self-titled debut set.|

The act's first single, "Touch, Peel And Stand," hit No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart this week. For an act whose members are still in their teens, it would seem a dizzying journey. But singer/songwriter Travis Meeks is already working toward wowing fans with a new sound on the act's next project.

"I was really afraid to let it out when we were in the studio," says Meeks, whose voice is often likened to Alice In Chains front man Layne Staley, of the current set. "My voice has developed since then, so I suspect people won't make those comparisons on the next project."
