"I am a big fan of his music," says Shellshok, "and we just kicked back and talked and said that we should do something."
With a foot in the Oakenfold door, Shellshock invited Canadian pop singer Esthero to sing on the track as well. "Esthero and I are friends [through Los Angeles hip-hoppers] Black Eyed Peas," Shellshok explains, "so I pulled her in." Esthero appeared on the Peas' 2000 single "Weekends," and Shellshok has known and worked with the group for almost a decade.
"I already laid the rough vocals for it," Shellshok says of "Starry Eyed Surprise." "And I just talked with Esthero, and [we are] going to go in right when I'm done with this tour and finish it." Crazy Town are currently on tour with Ozzfest, which wraps up August 12th in Holmdel, New Jersey.
"A party song" is how Shellshok describes "Starry Eyed Surprise." "It's subliminally about being in a crazy club on drugs," he says. "It's about having a good time. It's kind of like an ecstasy song."
